Types of Deadlocks for Doors

Once the key that is correct has been used, the pins will align themselves, and allow the cylinder to turn. This allows the latch bolt to retract and the door can be opened.
When the wrong key has been put in, the pins aren't aligned properly and stop the cylinder from moving. This is why it's important to use the correct key when you need to enter your business or home.
The cylinder is located within the body of the door and is connected to the operating trim using a square or a half-round extension. The cylinder also has small notch on its sides that are designed to be aligned with the key notches when the correct key is placed.
